“A society based on equity and social justice where women are active partners in holistic development.”
“Providing financial and capacity building services to organizations promoting livelihoods and self-reliance of poor women.”
FWWB was promoted in 1981 by Smt Ela Bhatt (Founder of SEWA and SEWA Bank), as an affiliate of Women’s World Banking, a global network based in the USA. Our primary objective is to work towards women’s empowerment and provide greater financial access to underprivileged women across India through capacity building and catalytic lending support. In our journey of 40+ years, FWWB has worked across geographies with low income household women, nurtured and supported many grass root institutions and also played a crucial role in the MFI sector and SHG movement in India as well.
At FWWB, we aim at creating an equitable and just society through its various flagship programs on Livelihood and Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Water and Sanitation, Climate Action and Renewable Energy. Cumulatively, FWWB has reached out to more than 12 million women, 440+ institutions across 21 states of India.
